Magpie beaming again after horror season with injury
COLLINGWOOD midfielder Dayne Beams says he is a stronger player after having been through the frustration of an injury-plagued season.
The Queenslander will play his 100th game for the Magpies tomorrow, at the MCG against West Coast. But if not for a serious quad injury, he would've reached the milestone last year.
The 24-year-old's 'four-to-five week' injury ended up sidelining him for four months.
"I certainly didn't expect to miss 16 weeks last year," Beams (pictured) told reporters yesterday when explaining the constant reoccurrences of the injury. "Once that third time came around, it was pretty dark for me.
"It definitely makes you stronger and I probably didn't have as much attention to detail, as I do now. So it's taught me to manage my body and understand how it works."
A club best and fairest winner and All-Australian in 2012, Beams has been back to his best in 2014, averaging 28 touches.
