A MAJOR recall has been issued for a well-known line of pre-mixed, ready-to-drink vodka, so take note if you're about to enjoy a school holiday sip or two.

Pinnacle Drinks' Mishka Vodka has been urgently recalled after a defect in the glass bottles was found to present a risk to customers who may slash their hands open while opening the bottles.

Queensland Health has warned there is also a risk of broken shards of glass entering the bottles when opened, creating a hazard for anyone drinking.

The 275ml, 4.5% strength bottles were sold nationally in BWS and Dan Murphy's between August 7 and September 20 this year.

The flavours affected include Tasty Apple Lychee (best before 14/12/18, 15/12/18, 27/12/18, 28/12/18, Lemon Lime and Bitters (best before 26/12/18, 27/12/18), Ripe Raspberry (best before 28/12/18, 29/12/18), Guava and Watermelon (best before 13/12/18, 14/12/18) as well as the Mix it Up 10-pack (all stock affected).

Customers are advised not to open the bottles and to return them to their nearest BWS or Dan Murphy's for a full refund, while anyone concerned should seek medical advice.

There are no other products reportedly affected by the recall and it's only products with the above best before dates affected, the Food Standards Australian and New Zealand website advised.

Best before dates can be found on the neck of the bottles.
