Maryborough riders check-in at BMX titles in Bathurst

A THIRTEEN-strong contingent of Maryborough's best riders spent the first half of this week on the road to Bathurst for the national titles.

The riders, who range from under-7 sprocket riders to 16-years Champbikx Series competitors, travelled more than 1100km ahead of the BMX Australia event.

Maryborough BMX Club publicity officer Angela Browning, whose son Harrison will compete in the 14 Boys and the seventh and final round of the national series, said they spent their first day at the track for practice yesterday.

The pre-titles, which double as another chance for race practice, will be held today, before Harrison Browning, Jack and Anna Terry compete in the Champbikx Series tomorrow night.

Harrison is currently ranked sixth in the 14 Boys, but with this being a double points round, he could finish the event higher.

"This is a double points round so you never know what might happen," Browning said.

Browning said the cohort was keen to hit the track for the competition, as racing starts for all riders on Friday.

"(They are) as confident as they can be," Browning said.

"Obviously nerves are there, especially with Nationals event on the weekend.

"Riders are just hoping to get through Thursday and prepare for the weekend's main event."

Keep an eye on Maryborough BMX Club's Facebook page for updates.

BMX Australia will also livestream the event.
