Man found dead in light plane crash

UPDATE Thursday, 5pm

Searchers have confirmed the death of the sole occupant of a single-engine Cessna that crashed near indune.

The family of the 49-year-old Roma man had been notified this afternoon of the discovery after an intensive land and air search that included the Central Highlands and areas south of Rolleston.


UPDATE Thursday, 10.56am

EMERGENCY authorities are calling on members of the public to report any information they may have about a missing light aircraft between Roma and Dysart.

Queensland police report the 49-year-old man was the sole occupant of the single-engine Cessna that left Roma just before 3pm Wednesday afternoon, headed for Dysart.

It is unknown where the man is from.

SES volunteers are due to leave Brisbane at midday to join the search area.

If anyone has any information on the aircraft's location or has seen or heard from the aircraft, please contact the Rescue Coordination Centre on 1800 815 257.
