Man, 51, charged over attempted bank robbery
POLICE have charged a 51-year-old man following an alleged attempted robbery at a bank in Maryborough on Thursday afternoon.
It will be alleged around 3.40pm a man attended the bank on the corner of Kent and Adelaide streets before making threats and demanding a teller hand over cash.
Staff alerted police and officers arrested a man at the scene a short time later.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
A 51-year-old Urangan man has been charged with one count of attempted robbery and will appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The bank was in lockdown as police spoke to the man and the bank staff.
The middle-aged man was then escorted by police to one of the police cars and taken from the scene.
