Man charged over alleged stabbing death of his partner

A MAN has been charged with murder after a woman was stabbed to death in the far north Queensland town of Woree last week.

Police found the 38-year-old Crystal Ratcliffe dead on October 13, when officers visited the house.

Her partner Ricky Cowan, 47, was taken to Cairns Hospital in a critical condition. He also suffered stab wounds.

The Cairns Post reports police considered whether Cowan had stabbed himself after allegedly stabbing Ms Ratcliffe.

Cowan may face a Magistrate from his bedside in Cairns Hospital today.
