Man charged with child sex offences involving young boys
A THAGOONA man has appeared in court after being charged with a host of alleged sex offences against young boys.
Joshua Michael Slater, 18, fronted Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday after being charged with 10 offences including two counts of indecent treatment of a child.
Mr Slater was arrested on February 9, 2016 at his home in Thagoona and spent the night in the watchhouse before appearing in court.
The alleged offences occurred on six separate occasions between January 7 and February 8, 2016 and involved two young boys.
Mr Slater's legal representative applied for bail on his behalf yesterday in the Ipswich Magistrates Court.
"The alleged victim's in this case were not residing at the address they were just visiting," he said.
"He is willing to have no contact with the two complainants if he is released on bail."
The court was told Mr Slater planned to live with his mother near Rosewood where his two young sisters also resided.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Jo Colston opposed bail on the grounds Mr Salter posed an unacceptable risk of reoffending and could interfere with witnesses.
Magistrate Deborah Vasta said she was satisfied the strict bail conditions she was imposing would reduce those risks.
His bail conditions include he live at a specific address, report to police twice a week, have no contact with his two alleged victims including via social media and not be left unsupervised with any person under 18-years-old.
The matter was adjourned until March 2.
