Man charged with Karalee siege in court
THE man at the centre of a siege in Karalee last month has had his matter mentioned briefly in court.
Michael James Thomas Richardson, 28, was charged with possessing a shortened firearm following the June 20, 2016 incident.
Police were called to an address on Elanora Way at 12.30pm where it was alleged Mr Richardson threatened a woman with a firearm before she fled the premises.
Specialist police attended the scene and at 2.56pm declared an emergency situation after Mr Richardson allegedly barricaded himself inside the house.
Mr Richardson was taken into custody at 5.15pm without incident after successful police negotiations.
The emergency situation, covering Elanora Way between First Avenue and Bendemeer St to the Bremer River, was also revoked.
Magistrate Virginia Sturgess adjourned the matter until July 20.
Mr Richardson remains in custody.
