Stabbing rampage leaves four injured

Police have a man in custody after four people were injured in a mass stabbing at Beenleigh McDonald's about lunch time today.

Four men are being treated by paramedics after police were called to the area about 12.30pm after reports a man was running along George St, making threats.

Police say the rampage started after a crash at the corner of Charles and Cameron Streets about midday.

Immediately after the collision happened there was an alleged altercation during which police say one man was stabbed.

The offender then ran into the car park of a nearby McDonalds and allegedly tried to carjack three vehicles.

Police say as this was happening two more men men were stabbed.

Members of the public then intervened during which time a fourth alleged victim suffered a cut to his hand.

The man was reportedly then restrained until police arrived.

Local shop owner Megan Hughes said people in the area were nervous.

"There are ambulances and police everywhere as well as the helicopter circling the area," she said. "You just don't expect this.

"I'm worried, I'm locking the door and looking after my customers," she said.

Hairdresser Jen Stevens said she saw the commotion unfold.

Ms Stevens said it started with people running across the road from the car wash.

"There was a commotion across the road and then a car was stopped," she said.

"Then two guys started running after one guy yelling to stop him that he tried to hijack a car with kids in it.

"Then they caught him in the drive thru."
