Man dies after being thrown from car in highway crash

A MAN has died after he was thrown from his vehicle in Charters Towers, west of Townsville.

Emergency services were called to the crash on the Lynd Highway about 5.50pm on Sunday after the vehicle left the road.

Police have confirmed the 34-year-old male driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene.

He was the only person inside the vehicle at the time.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

Earlier, a man died in Townsville following an incident on Thursday where he was hit by a truck.

The 45-year-old was on the corner of Hugh St and Montgomery St on Thursday morning when he was hit by the truck.

He was taken to Townsville Hospital in a serious, where he died on Sunday afternoon.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
