Man faces attempted murder charges

UPDATE: A MAN who was due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates’ Court this morning to face six charges of attempted murder was instead taken to hospital for a medical assessment.

The 36-year-old Sarina man is now schedueled to appear in court this afternoon. His appearance comes after an incident at Freshwater Point yesterday.

At 12.15pm police responded to an incident on Fleetwood Court following reports a 60-year-old man received stab wounds.

Four people, including the victim, were met by police and ambulance officers who began treating the victim on Miran Khan Drive.

The offender arrived and then allegedly drove his vehicle into the ambulance and the victim's vehicle causing major damage to all three vehicles.

All the people in the vicinity were able to get out of the way and no one was injured as a result of this.

The offender then exited his vehicle and allegedly struggled with ambulance officers until police were able to subdue and arrest him.

The man has been charged with six counts of attempted murder.
