Man hides under house after trying to break into it

POLICE investigating an alleged early morning break-in of a Tingalpa home during which a woman was assaulted have arrested and charged a 19-year-old Belmont man.

It will be alleged that a man broke into the home around 1.40am and assaulted a sleeping woman in her bedroom.

The woman woke up and screamed causing the man to flee. He was chased out of the house by a male resident before hiding underneath the house.

Police, responding to a Triple Zero call, arrived at the scene and arrested the man without incident.

The woman, aged in her 20's, was not physically injured.

The 19-year-old man is due to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court this morning charged with two counts of enter premises with intent at night, and one count each of sexual assault and stealing.
