Man hit by car in critical condition

UPDATE: A 28-YEAR-OLD man remains in a critical but stable condition after being hit by a car in North Bundaberg.

Initial reports suggest the man was lying on Fairymead Rd, between Whittingtons and McKenzies Rds, about 9.15pm on Saturday when he was struck.

The man sustained life-threatening head injuries and was transported to Bundaberg Hospital before being transferred to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital on Sunday morning.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call Bundaberg Police on 4153 9111.

EARLIER: A man in his 20s has been taken to Bundaberg Hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a car.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 9.10pm on Saturday night, after a white hatchback traveling north on Fairymead Rd, North Bundaberg, struck a pedestrian.

Police report that the 28-year-old man was lying on Fairymead Road, between Whittingtons and McKenzies roads when he was run over.

The driver of the car, a 74-year-old local man reportedly stopped and called emergency services.

The pedestrian was transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital for treatment to serious head injuries.

Traffic was diverted and the serious crash unit is investigating.
