Man dies in horrific crash on Ipswich-Boonah Rd

A MOTORIST has been killed in a fiery crash while driving his work vehicle in Milbong.

The male driver's Toyota HiLux burst into flames after it collided with a tree on Ipswich-Boonah Rd - about 750 metres south of the Milbong Road intersecion.

The accident took place at 2.10pm, yesterday.

The man was the sole occupant in the vehicle.

Ipswich Police Inspector Keith McDonald said officers had attempted to identify the driver, by personally attending the business the car was registered to.

Insp McDonald said when police and fire crews arrived on the scene, the vehicle was already engulfed in flames and the man's body was incinerated.

He said the Forensic Crash Unit was currently investigating the circumstances which led to the crash.

"At this stage all we know is the vehicle was heavily impacted and this driver was trapped inside," he said.

"We don't know if his death was a result of the fire or the impact of the collision."

Ipswich-Boonah Rd was closed while police conducted their investigations.
