Man charged over alleged kidnapping

A 28-YEAR-OLD Mackay man has been charged following the alleged kidnapping of a baby in Gladstone on Sunday.

The man has been charged with one count each of burglary, assault occasioning bodily harm and a domestic violence matter.

The man is due to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court on October 18.

A four-month-old girl was allegedly taken from a Gladstone home about 10am on Sunday by a man who was seen placing her in a white Ford Falcon.

After police called for public assistance the girl was found about 1.20pm.

The baby was unharmed and reunited with her mother.

A police representative was unable to disclose the place the child was found.

Police provided few details about the incident yesterday but thanked the public for their assistance.

Officers are continuing their investigation.
