Violent pair on run after carjacking

TWO violent carjackers remain on the run after attempting to steal a vehicle on Brisbane’s southside yesterday, slashing a man with a knife in the process.

Police said the crime spree started around midday, when a man armed with a knife entered a SUV in a driveway on Stringybark St in Sunnybank Hills.

He was chased by an occupant of the house as he ran to a waiting car, a stolen white coupe.

As the resident reached inside the car to get the keys, one of the alleged offenders used a knife to cut his hand.

Polair tracked the stolen white coupe to the Bruce Highway at the Sunshine Coast.

The vehicle continued onto Maryborough and crashed at the intersection of Russell and Edward streets around 3.37pm.

The two men then assaulted a 63-year-old man in Caringa St before stealing his white Kia that was parked in the driveway.

The two men were reportedly last spotted at Tiaro, south of Maryborough, about 8.30pm last night.

Investigations are continuing.
