Man steals $40,000 from tavern in Yeppoon

UPDATE 3.37PM: AUTHORITIES have confirmed $40,000 was stolen from the safe at the Capricorn Tavern last night at 10pm.

The male offender, approximately 180cm build, stole the cash after entering the back room of the Tavern through a sliding glass door.

Police are investigating the incident and are asking for anyone with information to contact Policelink on 131 444.

 

POLICE are investigating after a man stole a significant amount of cash from a tavern in Yeppoon last night.

At around 10pm a man entered the Scenic Road establishment and went into a locked room, stealing a large portion of money from the safe.

When he was attempting to leave the room an employee disturbed him. The employee saw a knife on the floor near the man.

The man quickly left the premises and drove off.

No one was injured during the incident.

Investigations are continuing.
