Man stole cigarettes and food items from stores

A MAN in his early 20s is believed to be responsible for stealing several cartons of cigarettes from a store in South Mackay, food items from a store in Andergrove and similar from a service station in Beaconsfield.

How does he do it?

He collects several items to purchase and presents them at the counter apparently to pay for them, police said.

He then asks for an item on display behind the store attendant who is serving him… when they turn around…  he is gone and so are the items he apparently was going to pay for.

Police have received a similar description on each occasion:

Man, early 20s, Caucasian appearance, light complexion, short sandy coloured hair, thin build, wearing a short sleeved shirt with a white and dark coloured pattern, red three quarter length pants, brown work boots and carrying a blue back pack.

If you have any information which might assist police with identifying this person, we urge you to ring the Mackay police station on 4968 3444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The police report number to quote is QP1600336189.
