Man uses frying pan to chase off home invaders

A YOUNG man has used a frying pan to chase off two intruders who bashed him with a rifle during a home invasion in Brisbane's south.

Two men, one armed with a rifle, the other a shovel, entered a Tarragindi home about 10.30pm on Monday and demanded property from a woman, 49, and a man, 24 who were inside.

Police say the younger victim managed to grab a frying pan to scare off the bandits after they bashed him in the back of the head with the rifle, leaving him with cuts.

The offenders drove off in a car, with a third man acting as getaway driver. They remain on the run.

It was one of several police incidents in the capital's south overnight, including the theft of an Audi after four men turned up to test drive it and the armed robbery of the Runcorn Tavern.

It is not known if the incidents are related.
