Man who allegedly drove at police to face court

A  21-year-old Victorian man who allegedly drove a vehicle at police during a chase through Gympie will face court on multiple charges.

At 12.55pm on Thursday, police said they were travelling along the Bruce Highway when they attempted to intercept a vehicle containing four people.

It will be alleged the driver attempted to turn dangerously down a side street before continuing along Cross Street.

The vehicle came to a stop on Park Terrace, whereby three people left the car and ran off.

A police officer chased the car on foot as it was allegedly driven through private yards.

It will be further alleged the vehicle drove towards the police officer before coming to a stop.

No-one was physically injured.

A 21-year-old Victorian man is scheduled to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on Friday charged with three counts of trespass, and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without a licence, failing to stop a motor vehicle and possessing dangerous drugs.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
