Pacific Haven masseur accused of sexual assault

A MASSEUR accused of using his services as an avenue to sexually assault a female client has been committed for trial.

Anthony Pittorino, 65, faces 12 counts of sexual assault over an alleged incident at his Pacific Haven home last year.

Police will allege a woman in her early 20s was indecently assaulted while undergoing remedial massage.

The alleged victim was cross-examined in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Mr Pittorino's defence lawyer told the court the "principal issue" was whether his client's actions were "therapeutic" and if there was a misunderstanding about the conversations and circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

The sexual assault charges will be heard before the Hervey Bay District Court at a date to be set.

Separate charges relating to the alleged unsafe storage of unregistered firearms will be back before the magistrate's court on August 28.
