Police clear mayor of election wrongdoing accusation
SUNSHINE Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson has been cleared by police and the Crime and Misconduct of any wrongdoing during the 2012 local government election.
Cr Jamieson started this morning's Ordinary Meeting with the announcement he had received correspondence from police.
It concerned an allegation of wrongdoing by Cr Jamieson's campaign team.
> It was alleged there was a payment to mayoral candidate Brett Winkler's campaign team to alter his How To Vote cards to include Mr Jamieson as his fourth preference.
Cr Jamieson said "two years and seven months after the allegations surfaced they have been unsubstantiated".
He said he had been advised no further action would be taken and the "matter is finalised".
