Man faces string of charges related to stolen Mercedes

A MAN charged in relation to a number of offences in Toowoomba including the driving of an allegedly stolen Mercedes Benz has been remanded in custody.

Police accuse 21-year-old Aaron Trent Bidgood of having driven the 2011 grey/gold Mercedes Benz around Toowoomba over the past week or so while committing offences.

Through the media, police had asked members of the public to be on the lookout for the vehicle which they claim had been sighted in and around Toowoomba after allegedly being stolen from a property at Biddeston last week.

Police claim the Mercedes was seen being driven erratically around Toowoomba and Pittsworth and claim it may have been used as a get away car in the break and enter of a Toowoomba residence.

During a brief appearance before Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon, Bidgood was not required to enter any pleas to a number of charges which included unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of entering a dwelling and committing an indictable offence and a number of drug related matters.

His solicitor Brad Skuse said his client's current parole had been suspended and he had been returned to custody in which case there would be no application for bail at this time.

Magistrate Damian Carroll therefore remanded Bidgood in custody and adjourned the case for mention back in the same court on May 12.

A 26-year-old man suspected by police of having been in the same Mercedes Benz also appeared briefly in court but was granted bail after Mr Skuse argued evidence to the man being in that vehicle was tenuous.
