MICROSOFT has released its Office suite into the wild for Android tablets.
The suite, available from today from the Google Play store are redesigned for the tablet form factor with functionality honed for the kinds of tasks tablet users require and a user interface modified for touch input.
Office 365 subscribers will have access to OneDrive or DropBox storage while commercial Office 365 subscribers will have access to the business versions of both services plus SharePoint.
Commercial subscribers will also have access to enterprise-grade security, IT management tools and commercial use rights.
Users who do not fall into either of those categories will be able to create, print and perform core editing functions free of charge, according to a press release issued today.
Microsoft has also released Outlook for iOS and a preview for Outlook for Android.
Outlook iOS will be free for use with subscribers able to enable commercial use rights.
The new mobile Outlook platform is set to replace the Outlook Web App (OWA), though businesses wanting IRM are being told to stick with OWA for the time being.
