TWO Mackay region mine workers are the lucky winners of the $1.9million Keno jackpot from Tuesday, having picked the winning digits together.
One of the men decided to pop down to the Nebo Hotel and play their usual 10 numbers in the big Keno jackpot, before checking in later at the Austral Hotel in Mackay, where he discovered they'd picking the winning numbers.
The hard-working mechanics, aged 31 and 37, who have worked together for seven years, said they were blown away when 10 out of 10 of their hand- picked numbers came up.
"I was just having a quiet drink and put our Keno ticket on," the winner who bought the ticket said.
"I watched the screen flash up that the jackpot had gone off there.
"I was shaking that much, I could hardly speak when I went up to the counter.
"When I did, the ticket was frozen. That's when they called Keno and told me we'd won."
The millionaire mates' winning numbers were 1, 2, 3, 4, 15, 22, 25, 53, 54, and 69.
They spent just $7, playing seven $1 games and winning the $1, 946, 086 jackpot on the sixth game.
"(My mate) picked his lucky numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 69 and the rest were mine," the winner said.
It would also mean he and his long-term partner could finally get married, and better yet happened on the second winner's daughter's first birthday.
The doting dads are the sixth players to win a million-plus Keno jackpot since Queensland joined the national jackpot pool on December 15 last year - amounting to jackpots totalling more than $9.2 million.
Keno spokesperson David Dicker congratulated the winners, saying that the team at Keno was thrilled to see even more Queenslanders get a major win.
