Miner's death is not suspicious

AN Ensham mine worker has died in non-suspicious circumstances.

At 3.15pm on Friday, May 6, Malcolm Buckley went to the gym in the workers camp at the Duckponds Rd mine.

Witnesses said the 46-year-old had worked out on the treadmill for a short time before heading to the weights room.

After doing a few weights, Mr Buckley was sitting on a weights bench and suddenly fell off the side, according to a police report.

Witnesses to the incident said he made sounds like he was snoring.

The Queensland Ambulance Service and Emerald Police attended Ensham where paramedics unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate him.

Police said the death was not suspicious.

Mr Buckley was from Mackay and Ensham mine management flew his family to the site on Friday.
