Blackwater gets first taste of My Kitchen Rules sausage line

BLACKWATER will have to wait until September before My Kitchen Rules winners Dan and Steph's sausage line hits supermarkets.

But at least they have already tasted the company of the winning couple, who performed the opening of the new restaurant, 21 Doon.

"It has the potential to be awesome," Dan said of the restaurant, which will serve Australian cuisine.

"The chefs here are very passionate in the kitchen and they're all doing really well."

The famous foodies were flanked by locals, and Steph said they weren't angling for secret recipes but rather what was cooking behind the scenes.

"People are interested in the behind-the-scenes of what goes on," she said.

"… and ladies, I got a kiss from Manu every morning and he smelled amazing!"

The couple said locals should step up to the plate for the cooking challenge.

"We think two friends - miners - are going to be a sure thing," Dan said with enthusiasm.

"Australia would love them - that whole loveable rough guy, or girl, who can cook - it'd be a hit."
