Mission in Perth looks tough for Warriors

THE New Zealand Warriors have clocked up 30,000km in five trips between Auckland and Perth without collecting a single NRL point.

It is an enormous ask for any team to travel such a long distance and then to play the game in a different time zone.

Their clash against fourth-placed Souths tonight will finish about 1.30am New Zealand time.

So far it has been mission impossible for the Warriors, who have lost all five games they have played in Perth.

Breaking the drought against a South Sydney side that has muscled its way into the top four will not be easy. But on their day, or night, the Warriors, with Shaun Johnson, Englishman Sam Tomkins and power players Konrad Hurrell and Manu Vatuvei, can beat anyone.

The Warriors (270 points) can score at the same rate as South Sydney (261), but are not as efficient at the defensive end of the paddock. Against Greg Inglis, new sensation Dylan Walker and the metre-eating Burgess triplets, it could be a very physical night for the Kiwis.

On form though, with four wins from their last five games, they have to be given a chance of causing an upset if they get the rub of the green.
