MKR’s Italianos remind everyone cooking can be fun

THERE were fireworks on My Kitchen Rules tonight - some good, some bad.

Italian mates Luciano and Martino served up a near-perfect night during their instant restaurant by staying true to their heritage and family traditions.

But unbeknownst to them, their dinner guests were clashing with outspoken carb-hater Jessica.

The Sydneysiders started off the night with a perfect pasta dish, according to the judges.

"Do you know how long I've been waiting for real Italian food on My Kitchen Rules?" Pete Evans said.

"Boys you delivered. This is true Italian. The bowl went down in front of me and the first thing I could smell was those mushrooms. The first bite was heaven… and the pasta, technically perfect."

But the enthusiastic Italians were in strife when a shortage of mini-jugs forced them to serve up less sauce with their Osso Bucco.

"The flavours in this dish are amazing, to die for," Manu Feildel said.

"If you cooked this dish for family and friends, would you serve it like this?

"This Australian-ised, not Italian. What's missing here is those pieces of meat swimming in sauce."

Around the dinner table tensions continued to build as Jessica's critiques of the food annoyed the other teams.

Then while debating what constituted "healthy" food, the fitness fanatic managed to insult Feildel after scoffing at his claims that he runs to stay fit.

Meanwhile in the kitchen, Luciano and Martino debated whether or not to include the surprise addition of Martino's spur-of-the-moment coffee semifreddo.

It turned out to be the right decision as the judges declared dessert another perfect dish.

"I think you finished as strong as you started," Evans said.

"What I loved about it was it was moist, you had the candied citrus in there, the coffee semifreddo was delicious too, and they work together."

The sweet finish was soured slightly when tensions between Jessica and Queensland miner diner Alex boiled over.

In response to her nitpicking, Alex said: "I really hope your food tastes better than your attitude".

Sisters Tasia and Gracia will host their instant restaurant tomorrow night.
