WITH more modelling competitions under her belt, Brooke Ramsamy is feeling more confident in the spotlight.

Pretty and polite, the softly spoken 19-year-old is preparing for the Australian Supermodel of the Year 2014 competition in coming months.

In March she was a Miss Universe Australia contender, and just last week she made the top seven of the Veve Dream Girl model search.

During the Veve Dream Girl competition, amid the photo shoots and meetings, entrants went paddle boarding, hiking and were taken out to fancy dinners.

Ms Ramsamy didn't take out the title, but said it was a valuable experience.

"I am learning a lot from each competition," she said.

"The girls are supportive and it's surprising how nice everyone is... I think people think it would be mean or catty. I know I was scared about that," she said.

The up-and-coming model receives big support from her mum, Nikki.

"She is helping me get my outfits ready," she said.

While Ms Ramsamy said she would love to be a model full-time, she is well aware the industry is hard to crack and will honour her work commitments in Mackay for the meantime.
