Arson investigation continues

POLICE have interviewed two suspects as they continue investigations in to a suspicous fire that gutted a Brooks St home on Monday night.

Emerald officer-in-charge of Criminal Investigations Branch Detective Sergeant Mick Polit confirmed two suspects and their family members had attended the station to speak with officers. No charges have been laid.

"We have interviewed a number of persons of interest to the investigation and will be conducting further interviews in the coming days," Det Sgt Polit said.

He said a 22-year-old male resident of the house was arrested on Monday, after police responded to a disturbance.

Police are appealing to the public for any information in relation to the deliberately-lit blaze.

Phone Emerald CIB on 4983 8124 with any details that may be relevant to the case.

"In particular we would be interested in any persons who heard or witnessed a disturbance at the address earlier in the day," he said.

"And/or saw a person leaving the house just prior to the fire taking hold."
