DOZENS of women have now made formal complaints against a masseur at the centre of a nipple-pinching scandal in Northern NSW, police have confirmed.

Since APN Newsdesk first broke the story of 66-year-old Timothy Moffatt's arrest at Coffs Harbour last month, 41 alleged victims have come forward.

Mr Moffatt, who was living in the nearby country town of Bellingen, is suspected of using his massage service as an avenue to indecently assault female clients.

An investigation was launched after three women aged 25, 47 and 55 complained of being inappropriately touched while undergoing remedial massage.

Police will allege that within hours of Mr Moffatt's arrest, several more women had come forward.

Mr Moffatt, who had previously been charged with three counts of indecent assault, was hit with a further 44 charges including an additional sexual assault charge in the Coffs Harbour Local Court this morning.

He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on March 25.

Investigations are continuing and police have not ruled out further charges.
