Motorbike rider to be airlifted to Rockhampton after crash
UPDATE 4.30PM: The man injured in a motorcycle crash near Emerald this morning will be airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the male motorbike rider, believed to be aged in his 50s, would be flown from Emerald Hospital by the RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service.
The extent of his injuries are unknown.
The crash closed the Capricorn Hwy briefly the morning as paramedics assessed the male and female riders at the scene.
UPDATE 1.15PM: A QUEENSLAND Police spokesperson has advised the Capricorn Hwy 3km east of Yamala is now open again following a crash involving two motorbikes.
The crash happened near Emerald about 10.50am.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the male motorbike rider was taken to Emerald Hospital with leg injuries and possible chest injuries.
The female rider was also taken to hospital as a precaution, but had no visible injuries.
11.40AM: THE Capricorn Hwy is closed and emergency services are on scene at a crash east of Emerald.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said the crash, which happened about 10.50am, involved two motorbikes and had closed the highway in both directions about 3km east of Yamala near Emerald.
The spokesperson said QFES crews are making the scene safe and the highway is closed in both directions.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said paramedics were on scene assessing a male and female.
It's understood both will be taken to Emerald Hospital.
