Mum shares hilarious 'professional' family photos

"She said the shadows were really bad on the beautiful, clear, sunny day and that her professor never taught her to retouch photos.'' Facebook

WE all know the perils of staged family photos. The trouble getting the kids to smile, the way you all look so, well, awkward.

But for one mum, the awkwardness was taken to a WHOLE new level when the photographer sent her the finished pics.

Pam Dave Zaring posted photos from her 'family photo shoot' to Facebook with the caption "Ok. This is NOT a joke.''

It's lucky she clarified this because one look at the photos and one automatically assumes it's a prank.

The family's faces seem to have been cut out and replaced by masks with particularly crazy, fake eyes.

"We paid a photographer who claimed to be a professional, '' Pam explained.

She obviously quizzed the snapper about the extremely odd result, because there was an excuse proffered.

"She said the shadows were really bad on the beautiful, clear, sunny day and that her professor never taught her to retouch photos.''

Um, okay.

It cost Pam $250 for a bunch of photos that look like they're out of either a kids' book or a horror movie.

As many commenters noted, the dogs seem to have dodged the over-zealous photoshopping.

"Why didn't the dogs get photoshop?! RUDE!!!'' someone joked.

"Feel free to share,'' Pam ended her post, which has quickly gone viral. " I literally have not laughed this hard in YEARS!!!!! You can't make this stuff up.....again, this is NOT a joke - final product.''

All we can assume is that truth IS often stranger than fiction!
