Lorbek to stand trial in fortnight

A SUNSHINE Coast mother accused of defrauding $2 million from Centrelink is expected to be committed to stand trial in a fortnight.

Judy Lorbek, 46, was arrested after authorities realised they had mistakenly placed the $2 million in her account in February instead of a one-off $2000 payment.

The Coes Creek woman is accused of going on a lavish spending spree - using the money to pay off her mortgage, renovate her home and fund a holiday.

She is charged with dishonestly appropriating property of the Commonwealth.

In Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday, the court set the matter down for a full-hand up committal on August 24.

Lorbek is currently on bail and did not appear in court.
