Mundine eyes Mayweather bout

AAP

BOXING: Outspoken boxer Anthony Mundine reckons undefeated multi-world champion Floyd Mayweather is a realistic opponent if he can beat former world champion 'Sugar' Shane Mosley next week.

The 38-year-old went face to face with 42-year-old Mosley yesterday ahead of next Wednesday's fight in Sydney and said if he beat the man who has become a friend, Mayweather could be on his radar.

"I've told you guys a year ago or so I wanted to fight the best fighters out there and since my last fight I've spent 10 months always staying in shape," he said.

"I don't want to fight contenders. I want to fight the best, the very best, to prove that I'm up there.

"It took a while but I've got this fight to showcase the skills I have and everything that comes with it. And that can snowball to bigger ones but I'm not looking past this.

"I've got to show (Mosley) the utmost respect he deserves."

Mundine said it was still possible that if he lost to Mosley he would call it a day.

"You'd definitely have to look at it," he said.
