Neighbour abuses early mower man

HOW early is too early for your neighbour to start mowing their lawn on a Sunday morning?

Clee Bjorn Trindall, 28, unemployed of Power St, Gympie appeared in Gympie Magistrate Court yesterday charged with wilful damage after he apparently considered 7.30am too early for a neighbour to start mowing his lawn and objected to it.

Police were called to a Power St residence after Trindall hurled an object at a vehicle in frustration over the mower’s noise.

The court heard Trindall and the man mowing the lawn had “a loud altercation” before Trindall smashed the windscreen of the complainant’s vehicle.

When police first asked Trindall about the incident he initially denied all knowledge of it, the court was told.

Magistrate Maxine Baldwin said “we all hate mowers on Sunday morning” but added there were “better ways to resolve conflicts” than what occurred on March 27.

“It is just a question of buying some industrial size ear plugs,” she told Trindall, “to stay out of trouble”.

Trindall was ordered to pay restitution of $270 and ordered to complete 20 hours of community service.
