New blood fuels healthy future

IF the strength of a sporting club is determined by its playing depth, then Clermont Bulls Cricket Club takes the cake.

No less than 13 junior Bulls, across a range of age divisions, will represent the region in Central Highlands' representative cricket sides this weekend.

Mitch Wharley, Liam Smith and Calin Schrader will don the Highlands' colours for their under-14 match-up with Rockhampton in Rockhampton.

CH coach Alan Jackson said he felt comfortable with the team's solid bowling line-up but was also wary of what the opposition would deliver.

The Bulls' senior cricket side is one of the forerunners in the Central Highlands competition, and will no doubt be looking to likes of under-16 CH representative Marcus Schrader in the future.

The young batsman is already a regular staple in Clermont's senior ranks, batting with all the ease of a seasoned veteran in the A-grade line-up.

Also from Clermont representing in CH sides this weekend are:

U11: Joe Callanan and Blair Hodson

U12: Logan Ross, Hugh Farquhar, Will Callanan and Gerard Moriarty as team captain.

U13: Fletcher Marks, Clayton Dollard, Tyler Van Der Merwe and David Boyes as team captain.
