River Heads man wants a job so bad he's on the roadside
FOR one Hervey Bay jobseeker, the search for permanent employment has had to become a little creative.
Guy Clark has spent his days over the past few weeks camped out on the side of the road next to a sign calling for work.
The new River Heads resident took to the road after an unsuccessful response during a more traditional job search, including 1700 flyers he posted.
He can spend most of the day at different spots around the city, but has so far had no luck finding something permanent.
Mr Clark is a fencer and bricklayer by trade and is searching for work driving or possibly breaking back into the building industry.
"I've had a couple of responses but it's usually people who want their lawn mowed or their gutter cleaned," he said.
He said motorists had shown their support for his unusual job search.
"There was one caring woman who stopped the other day and asked me if I needed food," he said.
"Heaps of people wave and give you thumbs up as they drive past."
