TOYOTA's eagerly awaited new Fortuner large SUV goes on sale next Monday starting from $47,990.

The diesel-engined seven-seat 4x4's full range, specification and pricing has been revealed today, the model launching in Australia in GX, GXL and Crusade variants.

The mid-range offering will cost $52,990 and range-topping Crusade $59,990. Autos are cost options in each for $2000.

The seven-seat 4x4 has the same underpinnings and body-on-frame chassis as the recently launched new HiLux ute, but with a coil sprung rather than leaf sprung rear.

Fortuner is Toyota's fourth large SUV - a segment it dominates already with Kluger, Prado and LandCruiser 200 - and positions itself between petrol-only Kluger ($44,990 for the AWD 3.5 GX) and Prado ($52,990 for the 2.8 GX diesel) on the pricing front.

All grades come with HiLux's 130kW/450Nm 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine, and both a six-speed manual and a six-speed auto will be offered. Part-time four-wheel-drive and seven-seats are across the range, with mechanical rear diff lock and towing capacity of 3000kg for manuals and 2800kg for autos.

Toyota's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said 6000 Fortuners had been allocated for Australia for 2016, with 90% expected to be automatic sales, with 50% of buyers going for the entry-level GX, and the remaining 50% divided between GXL and Crusade.

Specification-wise, standard across the range are air conditioning, cruise control, rear diff lock, seven airbags, reversing camera, hill-start assist control, 7-inch display audio with Toyota Link, bluetooth, air conditioned cool box, seven-seats and side steps.

The GX comes with 17-inch steel wheels and fabric seats, the GXL brings 17-inch alloys, downhill assist control, paddle shifts for the auto, Intelligent manual transmission, rear parking sensors, 4.2-inch colour MID, keyless entry and start, roof rails and front fog lamps.

Range topping Crusade has 18-inch alloys, auto a/c, sat nav, DAB+ digital radio, power driver's seat, power tailgate, LED running lamps, leather accented trim and woodgrain-look highlights.
