New truck to help SES volunteers in rescues
THE Rolleston Emergency Services Unit is now the proud owner of a special high clearance truck donated by Xstrata Coal.
Floodwaters can easily cut off the town of Rolleston but the low level of the Comet River can make it difficult to use boats.
SES Rolleston group leader Lionel Jackson said the new high clearance truck would make ferrying people in and out of town much safer and easier.
Lionel was recognised for his outstanding work during the floods with an award during SES Week.
Lionel and Rolleston SES crew member Derek Rowlands were also recognised with Disaster Hero medals, which were presented by Premier Anna Bligh.
