New website for Telstra updates
A NEW Telstra Country Wide website will give customers up-to-date information on network outages and restoration activities during major outages and natural disasters.
Telstra Country Wide area general manager for Country Coast and Capricornia, Doug McClure, said the new website was developed as a result of the natural disasters during the 2010/11 summer.
“Our regional customers can access the information from the website at their convenience, without having to call Telstra or wait for the next news bulletin,” he said. “It will also allow family and friends, who may be concerned about people in disaster areas, to check updates on the network.
“During periods of normal operation, this website will enable people to check what is happening to landline, broadband, or mobile services in the region simply by entering the relevant postcode. It will provide the latest outage information.
“In addition, the website will assist people by providing them a link to report a fault and details on how to apply for disaster assistance packages where available.”
