New Year's Eve party tips

WHEN it comes to parties, expectations don't run higher than on New Year's Eve.

More than any other festive occasion, it's a night of mandated fun when even the shyest amongst us feel compelled to socialise, complete strangers are tradition-bound to kiss one another and, thanks to the inevitable taxi shortage, a quick escape isn't an option.

Add alcohol and poor crowd control and it's the stuff of nightmares.

But whether you're hosting a casual barbeque, a cocktail soiree or a multi-course dinner party an outstanding evening can be yours.

It just takes a little forethought.
