TOUGH WEEK: Sydney Swans player Kieren Jack will play his 200th game against the Cats. DAVE HUNT

Off-field distractions won’t affect Jack, says Longmire

JOHN Longmire has backed his co-captain Kieren Jack to lead from the front tomorrow night against Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

Ahead of his 200th game, Jack has been forced to address a family feud involving he, his parents and his girlfriend Charlotte Goodlet, which became public.

“Kieren (Jack) will be fine,” Longmire said. “He’s mature enough to handle it, he’s an experienced player, he’s a leader of the footy club and he can focus on the football.

“I think we can all move on from it to be honest, it’s had plenty of airplay.”

With the Swans sitting fourth and Cats second, the game is pivotal.

Key defenders Ted Richards and Aliir Aliir were set to return from injury to help combat the Cats’ tall timber in attack.

“They’re the No.1 marking side inside their forward 50 in the competition, so we’re fortunate we’ve got a couple (of key backs) in our reserves that have been playing quite well,” Longmire said.
