DANIELLE and Joe Billing were preparing to start 2012 with the birth of their third child on January 6.

Baeden Joseph Billing, the couple's first boy, had other plans, arriving early just in time for a New Year celebration at 7.40pm on December 31.

Weighing 8lb and 8oz (3860g), Baeden was the last baby born at Emerald Hospital in 2011.

As 2012 approached, Danielle and husband Joe had the full attention of hospital staff.

"If felt very personal, like we were the only ones in hospital," Danielle said.

"The midwives were excellent. They did so much work."

The Clermont couple decided to have their baby close to home. "We decided to have bub close to where we live. We're so happy with the Emerald Hospital," Danielle said.

Baby Baeden joins sisters Tayla and Maddison and was a perfect end to the year for the Billings.

"We can definitely say it was an exciting New Year's Eve."
