Ombudsman visits region

QUEENSLAND'S Ombudsman will meet civic leaders during his visit to the Central West this week.

During a whistle-stop two-day tour of the region, Ombudsman Phil Clarke will meet Emerald Mayor Peter Maguire, Barcaldine Mayor Rob Chandler and Longreach Mayor John Palmer.

In Longreach, the Ombudsman will host a 'meet and greet' morning tea for local community groups at the RAPAD Skilling Training Centre.

Mr Clarke said he was looking forward to working with local councils to improve services for Central West residents.

"I receive thousands of complaints about local government every year so I'm keen to work with local councils across the state to improve decision-making and complaints management," he said.
