UPDATE: WIN News Sunshine Coast have responded to criticism they parked in a disabled car park outside a hospital.

A spokesman for the WIN team confirmed it was an "honest mistake."

"There was no intention to deliberately park there," he said.

"The person involved is upset and remorseful as they were when they first realized what they had done. That person was very apologetic at the time."

The spokesman said the WIN TV news team were warned to be more aware of where they were parking their vehicles.

EARLIER: WHOOPS! A Sunshine Coast news team have been busted parking in a disabled car park on the eve of their affiliate newsroom airing a segment about people who misuse them.

This week Channel 9 have been promoting a story about a campaign for tougher penalties for drivers who illegally park in disabled car spaces.

The segment headlined "dob in a driver" had been advertised on the network prior to the story airing tonight along with Facebook posts asking for viewers to join the discussion on an appeal.

But in awkward timing, someone from Channel 9's regional Sunshine Coast affiliate was busted parking in a disabled car park at Nambour hospital yesterday afternoon.

Parking name and shame group Sunshine Coast Crap Parkers shared the photo on their Facebook with the comment "ignorance is not a disability."

The Daily have contacted WIN for comment.
