Push for outback water infrastructure shrugged off
A PUSH for outback water infrastructure for regions being scorched by drought has been shrugged off by the Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney who said there is little to be done during the current dry.
The Katter Party's member for Mt Isa Rob Katter asked Mr Seeney whether he would investigate water facilities for the drought-stricken north-west, including Cloncurry.
Mr Seeney said the government was "acutely aware" of the issue but the time it took to develop the infrastructure meant it had to have been done "a long time" before the dry conditions take hold.
"The issue of water infrastructure is one that always becomes a hot topic of conversation when such drought conditions occur," Mr Seeney said.
"In reality, the issue of water infrastructure has to be dealt with a long time before a drought happens."
