UPDATE, 4.22pm: A 25-year-old woman is being treated at Mackay Base Hospital this afternoon after being bitten by an unknown species of snake

She arrived at the hospital about 2.30pm.

The snake bit the woman at a private property in Ball Bay this afternoon, QAS has said.

UPDATE, 2.22pm:  A WOMAN aged in her 20s was transported to Mackay Base Hospital after a "possible snake bite" at Ball Bay this afternoon, according to a QAS spokeswoman.

The spokeswoman said paramedics received the call to attend about 1pm and arrived to find the woman in a stable condition.

She said QAS were unable to confirm at this stage whether a snake was found at the scene, or if the woman was indeed bitten.

It's understood the possible bite occurred at a property on Said Rd, but the spokeswoman was unable to clarify because it's a private residence.

Mackay Base Hospital will be contacted for comment.

INITIAL: PARAMEDICS are on their way to help a reported snake bite victim at Ball Bay, according to Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS).

A spokeswoman said about 1pm that QAS were "called to the incident" at Said Rd, "but haven't yet arrived".
