Parent apologises to school over vile Facebook comments
A RESOLUTION has been reached between a deputy principal and a student's father after the man apologised for posting vile comments to Facebook.
The Centenary Heights State High School staff member was the target of comments after suspending the man's daughter.
Shine Lawyers partner Adair Donaldson said he had been contacted by the parent involved.
"... to his great credit he has not only apologised profusely in relation to his comments but also endorsed the manner in which the school handled the matter," Mr Donaldson said.
"I think it is important that we appreciate that from time to time we all make mistakes but it is measure of the person as to how we respond.
"In this case I don't think we could have expected anything more of him as a man and particularly the message that he wants to send to the rest of the community.
"Sometimes it takes hurtful cases like this to surface so that we can address issues and to allow others to learn from the mistakes."
Mr Donaldson said the matter had been finalised.
